Bank AL Habib was incorporated as a Public Limited Company in October 1991 and started banking operations in January 1992.

Dawood Habib Group, the sponsor directors of Bank AL Habib Limited, have a long association with the banking industry dating back to 1920’s. They were among the founder members of Habib Bank Limited, a bank that played a major role in meeting the financial and banking needs of Pakistan when it was nationalized along with other Banks in Pakistan on December 31, 1973.

Chairman of the Board is Mr. Ali Raza Habib, who took over the position in May 2000, after the death of Mr. Hamid D. Habib, the founder Chairman. Mr. Hamid D. Habib, who was the grandson of the founder of Habib Group, and was a Director in Habib Bank Limited since 1954 and its Chairman from 1971 till nationalization.

The Chief Executive is Mr. Abbas D. Habib, who took over the position in 1994, after the demise of Mr. Rashid D. Habib, the first Chief Executive of the Bank. Mr. Rashid D. Habib was the Managing Director of Habib Bank from 1953 till its nationalization.

The Bank has been rated as "AA" for long-term rating and "AI +" for short-term rating by the Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (Private) Limited (PACRA).

Mr. Abbas D. Habib Chief Executive & Managing Director Bank AL Habib Limited

The Chief Executive & Managing Director, Mr. Abbas D. Habib comes from the renowned Habib family, who held a prominent position in the Banking, Insurance and Industrial sectors in the subcontinent before partition. He has over 40 years of experience in the field of trade, industry and banking. He is a fellow of the Institute of Bankers Pakistan and also a member of the council of the Institute of Bankers, Pakistan.
Mr. Abbas D. Habib has also served as Executive Director in Habibsons Bank, London. In 1991 he was appointed as Joint Managing Director of Bank AL Habib Limited to assist in the incorporation, establishment and management of the bank. He assumed the position of the Managing Director & Chief Executive in 1994 after the demise of Mr. Rashid D. Habib, the first Managing Director of the Bank.

  A member of the Habib Group, Mr. Qumail R. Habib is the son of Late Rashid D. Habib, the first Managing Director of Bank AL Habib. He is a graduate in Business Economics from University of California. He has been with the Bank since its inception and is presently holding the position of Executive Director. He is responsible for the growth and operations of the bank’s business in the Central/Northern Zones and also coordinates the activities of IT related projects. He is an active member of IBP and MAP and represents the bank at various forums.

  Mr. Siddiqui is a Master of Science and Business Management, and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers. He started his banking career with United Bank Limited in 1968 which he left in 1982 to join Union Bank of Middle East and then BCCI in 1984, where he was responsible for US Affairs Department until 1991. He joined First International Investment Bank in 1992, and became it’s Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to 2004. He has joined Bank AL Habib in June 2004 as the General Manager, Risk Management.
