Key Milestones

2008: The bank was founded with a mission to alleviate poverty in Pakistan.

2009: The bank started its deposit based operations across its branch network.

2010: The bank launched its ATM operations and strengthened the branch network across Pakistan.

2011: Bank was awarded silver award for social performance reporting from MIX market.

2012: Launched gold backed lending and crossed 1 billion in outstanding GLP.

2013: FINCA brand was launched in Pakistan as FINCA Microfinance Bank Ltd. In the same year, the bank started offering employee banking services and the running finance facility.

2014: The bank crossed 75,000 borrowers across Pakistan. The network touched ‘100 location mark’ across Pakistan. FINCA also launched Agri lending, IBFT facility and the mobile banking project; Inaugurated FINCA Pakistan's 1st priority branch in Lahore. FINCA was also awarded the seal of transparency certificate for the Year 2014 as a result of participation in the transparent pricing initiative.

Mr. M. Mudassar Aqil

Mr. M. Mudassar Aqil is the CEO of FINCA Microfinance Bank Ltd. Since 2011, he has overseen the bank’s rapid growth and its recent acquisition by FINCA which makes the bank a part of one of the largest global network of microfinance institutions spread across 23 countries in 5 continents. Mr. Aqil is a banking industry veteran.

Prior to joining FINCA, he worked for 14 years at a leading commercial bank in Pakistan and the United States. He serves as a director on the board of Pakistan Microfinance Network. He holds an MBA from Salisbury University, Maryland.

Shahid Maqsood

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Shahid Maqsood is a banking industry veteran with 20 years of experience in commercial banking both in Pakistan and in international markets. He has the ground experience to grow and sustain market share of the banking business. He also has multi-cultural & ethnic awareness as he worked with US based representatives to establish a microfinance bank in Pakistan. During his career he has been exposed to and has managed all the functional areas of banking (Treasury, Credits, Operations, Trade Finance, Finance, Risk Management & Human Capital).

He started his banking career with Union Bank in 1994 and over the years, he also held senior positions at Kashf Foundation and Bank Alfalah Ltd. Most recently, he served for 4 years as Country Manager for Bank Alfalah Ltd at Afghanistan and Bahrain. Mr. Maqsood has also served as a Director of Afghan Bankers Association.

He holds an MBA in Finance from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan and Diploma of Associates from Institute of Bankers Pakistan (DAIBP).

 
Dmitry Bogatyrev

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Dmitry Bogatyrev has more than 14 years of experience in the banking industries of the post-soviet economies. He started his banking career in Kyrgyzstan in 2000 and from 2004 to 2009 worked for the ProCredit banks in Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan in various managerial positions in internal audit. Before joining FINCA, Mr. Bogatryrev was CFO at the leading commercial bank in Kyrgyzstan founded by EBRD, IFC and KfW.

His expertise includes internal audit, internal control, business process analysis, budgeting and business planning, reporting and liquidity management. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and holds an MBA from the Academy of Management under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

 
Fawad Younus

Head of Marketing, R&D, BI & Customer Experience

Mr. Fawad Younus is a seasoned executive with about 20 years of experience in Management, Education, Research & Development, and Technology related fields in the US and Pakistan. He has worked for the University of the Texas at Arlington, Advanced Micro Devices, and National Semiconductor Corporation in the USA and later at National ICT R&D Fund Company after moving back to Pakistan. He has joined FINCA Microfinance Bank, Ltd. as Head of Marketing, R&D, BI and Customer Experience. His areas of special interest are new product and process design, benchmarking, business process reengineering, innovation strategy, project and program management, monitoring and evaluation, productivity enhancement, quality control, and customer quality assurance. He holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA in Technology Management from University of Dallas.

He is also a certified Six Sigma Greenbelt.

 
Muhammad Qaisar

Head Business Banking

Mr. Muhammad Qaisar brings over a decade of experience working in the microfinance industry. He started his career at the grass root level, successfully performed different roles like credit officer, branch manager, area manager, regional manager and finally attained the position of head of business banking at FINCA.

Mr. Qaisar possesses multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and multi-institutional knowledge of working closely with rural/urban segment of the society; grip on individual and group based lending model, knowledge of social sector, implementing efficiency measures, in-depth understanding of effective communication and ability to travel extensively in operational areas.

Mr. Qaisar has a Masters of Arts degree in Sociology and also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Support Communication from University of the Punjab Lahore.

 
Nuvin Jatala

Head IS

Ms. Nuvin Jatala is the Head of IS. She joined in November 2007 and led the setup and implementation of the bank’s information and communication infrastructure as well as the core banking system. She was also responsible for assembling the IT team and developing the requisite policy/procedures. In addition to managing the IT operations, she is also overseeing the implementation of technology-based channels for the bank, which involve deployment and maintenance of ATM’s at all branches, and other such initiatives.

Prior to joining FINCA, she was working with City Schools Private Limited from 2004-2007. Her initial work experience comprises of software project management and re-engineering at two software service providers. Her total career-span is now more than 13 years. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems from N.E.D University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi and Masters in Computer Science from SZABIST, Karachi.

Syeda Noshina Bukhari is an experienced banker. She has over 10 years of commercial banking experience before joining the Microfinance sector in 2008. She has worked at Union Bank Limited, Askari Commercial Bank and Prime Commercial Bank before joining FINCA. She has experience in branch banking operations, trade finance and SME financing. She has also worked as a main trainer and director management trainee program at Prime Commercial Bank Limited. She has developed and implemented the Banking Operational Policies and Procedure, Internal Control Processes and played a vital role in implementation of the Banking software.

Mrs. Bukhari’s has done her Masters in Public Administration from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

Mr. Numan Ali Amjad is a Finance & Audit professional with more than 10 years’ experience in Statutory and Internal Audits, Internal Control Assessments, Risk based Auditing, SOX Compliance, COSO based Auditing, Management Consultancy, Due Diligence Assignments and Tax Advisory in Big 4 firms and financial institutions.

Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Janjua has been working as Head Legal, Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary since May, 2014. Mr. Janjua is a law graduate from University of the Punjab. In addition, he has done his Masters in Political Science. He has 12 years of diversified experience in legal and corporate sector. He started his career in 2002 as a lawyer; managing corporate, commercial, arbitration & banking regulatory & compliance, service, labor and civil cases at reputed law firms till December, 2013.

He joined FINCA Microfinance Bank as Assistant Manager Legal in January 2009. He is managing the legal, civil, service, labor and criminal litigation, arbitration & microfinance banking, corporate governance, real estate, investments, regulatory and compliance affairs of the bank. Mr. Janjua is also an advocate at Lahore High Court, Pakistan

Mr. Muhammad Asif Javed is a veteran banker with an overall banking experience of more than 15 years in leading Commercial Banks of Pakistan. He started his banking career in 1999 from MCB Bank and then worked with HBL in different capacities. Before joining FINCA, he was at Barclays Bank, Pakistan as Head Trade Finance operations (Central Region).

His expertise includes Trade Finance, Core Banking Operations, Internal Audit & Compliance. Mr. Asif obtained his MBA from Al-Khair University as well as CA foundation from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. In this personal life, he is passionate about badminton, driving and tourism. Mr. Javed has 2 lovely kids, Shaheer who is studying in 6th grade and Imtishal, a student of class 3.In his new position as Head of Compliance, he looks after the Compliance related matters of the bank and will report directly to the CEO.

 
Muhammad Tariq Mir

Mr. Muhammad Tariq Mir is an accomplished banker and leader with a career spanning over 30 years. During the wide span of his career, he held senior executive positions in Pakistan, UK and the Middle East. His leadership skills are demonstrated by the fact that he has successfully turned around the operations and increased the market share with minimal HR changes. He has a flare for international banking success across multiple continents and has strong Marketing, Retail Banking and Credit skills. In particulars, his 5 years’ experience with HBL as Country Head in Lebanon; and 4 years leading the International/Overseas operations (Bangladesh, Bahrain, Afghanistan and rep Offices at Abu Dhabi) at Bank Alfalah in Pakistan has allowed him to demonstrate immense growth of the respective banks in their international expansion strategies. At FINCA, he is reporting directly to the CEO.

Mr. Mir holds dual British and Pakistani citizenship which assists him in his international networking connections and augments his swift international mobility. He was born and raised in Kenya but remains a Pakistani at heart, where he graduated in Economics from Forman Christian College.
